Amber Rudd’s daughter calls for “porn for children”

The daughter of former Home Secretary, Amber Rudd has caused outrage after explicitly advocating pornography for children.

Journalist Flora Gill posted on Twitter: “Someone needs to create porn for children. Hear me out. Young teens are already watching porn but they’re finding hard core, aggressive videos that give a terrible view of sex.

“They need entry level porn! A soft core site where everyone asks for consent and no one gets choked.”

She has since deleted the post following an instant backlash but has not taken back her comments. Responding to one Twitter user who plainly stated, “how about we just keep kids away from porn?” Ms Gill wrote: “I think it’s very hard to keep teens away from porn. Most 14/15 year olds understand computers far better than their parents and will easily work a VPN.”

Gill’s late father, provocative writer and darling of the metropolitan liberal elite, AA Gill, directed a pornographic film and once remarked, “complaining about pornography is like moaning about the weather, though more fun, with better graphics. We are just surrounded by it. It’s bottomless, topless and endless.”

Gill’s mother, Rudd started out in amateur dramatics and got her career break as an “aristocracy coordinator” on the set of Hugh Grant rom-com, Four Weddings and a Funeral – you’ve got to be seriously posh to be in a position to tell Hugh Grant how to be more Hugh Grant.

She is the sister of Roland Rudd, the public relations mogul who led the Remain campaign from behind the scenes. Amber Rudd shot to infamy as one of the top Tory spokespersons for Remain during the 2016 EU referendum campaign, going up against Boris Johnson in a pivotal debate days before the ballot.

In spite of her strong association with Remain, Rudd was given two plumb jobs in Theresa May’s cabinet. She resigned as Home Secretary following the Windrush scandal in April 2018. May brought her back into the Cabinet just six months later as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. Both women would be out of government within a year.

Rudd would no longer be in Parliament at all. Having held onto her pro-Brexit Hastings seat by just 300 votes at the disastrous 2017 general election, she wisely decided not to stand in 2019.

Rudd’s daughter has now garnered similar levels of notoriety. A decent number of liberals cried out over social media for the GQ journo to be heard out. Some were critical over her delivery though with one person posting that she made a “totally valid point but she just totally f**ked it”.

But the overwhelming reaction to Gill’s comments was negative.

“We should do entry level beer and entry level cannabis and whilst we’re at it, entry level coke. Not the best tweets,” wrote one person on social media. Gill replied to this tweet too, telling her critic: “Well we kind of do have entry level alcohol. You can drink wine with a meal years before you can drink spirits at a bar.”

Others were more direct. “One of the most vile things I’ve read on here. Utterly evil,” tweeted an angry individual.

A second person fumed: “There’s some despicable people on Twitter then there’s Flora Gill wanted to pimp out children to make porn… Makes prophet Mohammad look Conservative.”

“Flora Gill…..madness….just madness,” posted a third.
