At least two people have been killed in the Netherlands after a man was filmed shooting at passers-by with a crossbow from the balcony of his apartment.
The incident occurred in the eastern-city of Almelo on Friday morning with local police urging people to avoid the area and also revealing a stabbing had taken place. It is not yet clear exactly how the two victims were killed.
Footage posted on social media by Dutch broadcaster RTV Oost showed a topless man firing a crossbow indiscriminately from the top floor balcony of a three-storey apartment building before walking back inside.
Local media reported six ambulances and six police cars attended the scene, including firearms officers.
It is understood that police injured the suspect before arresting him, and a body was found in the apartment.
Local police confirmed on Twitter: “At the stabbing incident at the Mth Steynstraat in #Almelo two people died. A third victim was injured. One suspect has been arrested and injured. The further police investigation is ongoing.”
